Frequently asked questions.

Will I be able to ride a horse?

No- our program is ground-based, meaning that we remain on the ground while working with the horses.

What insurances do you accept?

We currently are able to accept Medicaid clients who receive services through Vaya and Partners Health. We also accept self-pay clients. Not sure if you’re eligible? Give us a call, or email us- we’d love to help!

I don’t have insurance. How much does a session cost?

Great news! We do accept private pay for our sessions. A 60-minute individual session is $150. We currently accept cash or check due before or at the time of service.

Do I have to get close to the horses or touch them?

Absolutely not. You are allowed to remain wherever you feel most comfortable during session. Some clients like to enter the field or ring and interact directly with the horses, and others prefer to remain outside the gate. It is totally up to you, and your decisions will be respected.

What if I don’t know anything about horses?

Clients are not required to have any level of equine experience. Some of our clients are meeting a horse for the first time in one of our sessions!

Who exactly is involved in my session?

In each Eagala session, your treatment team will consist of one equine specialist, one mental health professional, and at least one horse. Equine specialists have a skillset specific to horses, just as mental health professionals have a skillset specific to people. Your sessions will never consist of just one or the other- each session will be attended by your therapist and equine specialist.
